The BBVA party in the park

We decided to combine the annual ‘village drinks’ party with the jazz concert that were earlier cancellations AND to make it a freebie to celebrate the end of the Lockdown.  It was a really good afternoon which was planned for two hours and lasted for six!

The weather was a major concern – both wind and rain – but fortune favoured the brave. The marquees didn’t blow away and we didn’t get wet.  We were entertained by the superb Oxford Classic Jazz trio, who will certainly be asked to come again.

A new feature was the appearance of the Bouncy Castle, which was purchased by the Association only last week and of  course very popular with the children and some parents ! Do contact a member of the BBVA committee if you’d like to hire the bouncy castle for your party!

Our Chairman, Debbie, welcomed the guests and our entertainers and stressed the need for more helpers, either as committee members or as helpers for events like the village fete on Sunday 5th September.  Deb handed the mic to Lawrence Clarke, one of St. Mary’s Church Wardens, who expressed the need for change and specifically suggesting that the church should be used as a community centre for village activities, but would need improved facilities (loos and kitchen) and encouraged every householder to complete the survey in order to gauge village opinion.

Many thanks to all volunteers who put in big shifts to deliver and erect the marquees and all sundry table, chairs, drinks, purchasing, grass mowing, electric and water supplies.
