Black Bourton Parish council is responsible for managing its own budgets. We are financed through the precept, an amount of money calculated as an estimate for the coming financial year and collected as part of your Council Tax. This money is used to improve facilities and services for us all.
How does your parish council work?
We meet regularly to address our responsibilities. Apart from councillors, we have a clerk who provides administration for the council. We can also apply for other funding, such as grants and awards.
We actively encourage input from residents on what our community needs, so that we can budget for that activity.
We have a range of powers and duties in relation to serving our community. You can see these listed in the powers and duties of parish councils document: Powers Of Parish Councils
Information about the role of a parish councillor and guidance on standing for election can be found on the National Association of Local Councils (NALC) website which provides this publication: ALL ABOUT LOCAL COUNCILS 2018
