TREE WATERING
Looks like we are to go through a second and prolonged heatwave over the next week or so and unfortunately a lot of the younger trees are not yet established well enough to be able to cope with prolonged hot and dry spells. Members of the Parish Council have been watering them regularly , but we could do with some help. If you live near some of the younger trees, or pass by them regularly, it would really help if you could find time to put a bucket of water on them. It does not have to be clean water, anything is better than nothing. The main areas of concern are along Station/Alvescot Road, the village green and Burford Road opposite Lockharts entrance. Any help would be appreciated. Thankyou

DEFIBRILLATOR ACCESS SUPPORT
Black Bourton Parish Council is responsible for the defibrillator located at The Vines on Black Bourton Road.
In 2025, the Parish Council arranged defibrillator training at St Mary’s Church. During the session, it was suggested that Black Bourton could sign up to a service that would establish a local network of contacts who would be on call to support anyone in the village needing a defibrillator but unable to quickly access the one at The Vines. The communication platform that underpinned the service is not free and, following a discussion with someone who who has used the system, several issues have been highlighted that lead us to believe it is not the best solution.
At our most recent meeting, a resident suggested that individuals who were willing to help in an emergency could sign up to the GoodSAM mobile phone application, which is widely used by many emergency services personnel and trained and trusted volunteers to offer support to those in need. One aspect of the service is cardiac support, in which they operates the world’s most advanced cardiac arrest alerting system. GoodSAM integrates with ambulance service CAD systems, and when a cardiac arrest is identified, the platform automatically alerts the nearest registered Responders, who will, if able to accept the alert, begin CPR while the ambulance is en route, tripling the chance of survival.
The app and platform are completely independent of the Parish Council, but we would encourage everyone to take a look at the GoodSAM website and sign up, if you feel comfortable doing so… your support may help save a life.

SANDBAGS
