The Parish council would like to extend their warmest season greeting and Happy New Year to you all.
“20 is plenty” the survey is still on the website and we are reliant on local feedback before we make the vote to change the speed limit. The three roads in question are Bampton Road, Burford Road and School Lane. For more information, please look on the WODC news page and follow the links on 20 is plenty – https://www.oxfordshire.gov.uk/residents/roads-and-transport/traffic/20mph-scheme.
The War Memorial is now completed with a big thank you to M J Sly for doing the work so promptly, we are just waiting for quotes to mend the plinth. Cllr Miles has now taken over as Councillor of green spaces so if there is anything in the village that need the attention of Cllr Miles, please contact the clerk and all correspondences will be forwarded to him. This includes any footpath issues including signage, any worries about trees or anything else green please let us know.
We have just received a handful of trees to replace the sad few we lost over the summer in the unusual hot weather so if you see us planting, please give us a peep as you pass, if you are interested in helping us plant them, please let the clerk know on the email address below.
The salt bins throughout the village are full if you wish to spread some due to the road conditions, please feel free to do so, also if you notice a bin is getting low then please contact the parish clerk.
Play Park improvement project – The FCC |Communities Foundation, who have awarded us £16,000 to improve the play park, have finally signed off on the project, so we hope to start work in the new year. The BBVA and Parish Council have also contributed to the costs. We have had to make a few small changes to the plan as prices have risen since we made our original application, but we will be installing the six items discussed during the consultation as well as a roundabout. Thanks to everyone who has been involved in getting us to the start line – we are sure the children of the village will very much enjoy using the play equipment and, for those adults so inclined, the tone up zone could certainly help improve our levels of fitness.
The next meeting is on the 4th January 2023 at Alvescot Village Hall at 7.00pm, please do come and join us.
Do take a look at the WODC updates – many of which are relevant to us.
