Our special crib service 2020-style!

Neither the strict COVID-19 regulations or the plummeting temperatures could dampen the spirit of Christmas goodwill as the Black Bourton Crib Service went ahead on Christmas Eve at 4.30pm in the churchyard of St Mary’s.

It was a really lovely occasion and gave many villagers the opportunity to meet our new vicar, The Reverend Tess Kuin Lawton.

The churchyard and porch-way were festively illuminated and despite everyone wearing masks we were permitted to sing three carols, which made the occasion even more special, particularly for the children present.

Huge thanks to the BBVA, especially Dave Nixon for his electrical expertise and also to David Austin for playing so beautifully, an electric keyboard in the church porch in less than cosy conditions! Particular thanks to the Churchwardens for their invaluable assistance with ensuring that the service complied with all the necessary regulations.

Somehow the BBVA managed to book Santa early so that the children were given an early present on their way home!

It was a very special service and so wonderful to gather, all be it socially distanced, as a village community, in spite of these very challenging times.
