Our Remembrance Day service

Black Bourton turned out in unprecedented numbers at the village memorial for our

Remembrance service on Sunday 14th November led by Jeremy Lane.  We were joined by members of the armed forces from Brize Norton and after the 2 minute silence wreaths were laid on behalf of the Parish Council, the PCC, the BBVA and JADTEU.

Over 100 people joined the service in St Mary’s with members of the parish and military taking part with readings and hymns led by David Austin on the organ.  Jeremy gave an uplifting address comparing the darkness of the two World Wars with the ‘wars’ of darkness of our current pandemic and global warming emergency.  He invoked Brian Cox’s Universe TV series to give credibility to the creation story in Genesis and the beginning of St John’s Gospel.  Afterwards the Vines welcomed those who attended.
