Neighbourhood watch

Why a Neighbourhood watch for our village? Although there are very few reported crimes in our village we prefer ‘better to be safe than sorry’! The nearest towns to us are Bampton, Carterton and Burford that make up the police crime statistics for the area.

Our scheme is there to increase awareness about what is happening around us, but also to make sure we are looking out for each other, especially the elderly and more vulnerable members of our community. It is important we get to know who our neighbours are. By working together as a group, we can help to tackle local issues, including anti-social behaviour and criminal damage, which can help to reduce crime.

We actively seek the greater involvement of local people in crime prevention activities using a WhatsApp group to communicate. Given the new norm that more people are working from home we can expect to be even more effective.

If you would like to join the scheme then you can do so directly on the official neighbourhood watch site, but do also use the contact form quoting ‘Watch’ in ‘Your Subject’ line to join our WhatsApp group.
