The church wardens of St Mary’s have been tasked by their PCC to improve the facilities in the church – starting with a loo! They’ve consulted with the BBVA and PC committees and now we want to hear the views of everyone! If St Mary’s is going to be relevant for future generations it needs to be useful for all – just like a village hall. If we can demonstrate a real need for improving the facilities then we stand a good chance of attracting grants towards the costs.
The options for improving the facilities at St Mary’s are contained in this booklet – Adapting St Mary’s For Wider Use. At this point we are just floating possibilities. There’s a long way ahead involving an 8-step process:
-
-
- Identify the needs (the village-wide survey)
- Review which option best addresses the needs
- Get approval from the planners at the C of E
- Set up a project team from volunteers
- Appoint architect and define the requirements
- Get the costs for one or more options
- Raise the money – fundraising and grants
- Build the option we can afford to build!

The village-wide survey is step one! If you are registered for our monthly newsletter you will have received the June/July issue with a link to the online survey. If you’re not registered and wish to fill the survey in online then go to the foot of this page and sign-up. If you prefer to fill the survey in by hand you can download the survey – BB Community Survey. Please hand your completed form to any BBVA, PC or PCC representative.
The whole point of the survey is to demonstrate that there is a real need from everyone, not just church-goers, to create a centre for the whole community. The survey will only take a couple of minutes to fill in. Your views really do count!
