It is certainly too hot for anything but early morning or evening qardening this week but we do hope you, your gardens and pots are all bearing up. If you find some of your plants wilting, don’t give up on them as it is surprising how well they often revive after a good watering. For more advice on watering during this hot spell and which plants to prioritise please see this recently updated advice from the RHS Watering Advice.
Our speaker this month on Tuesday 14th July at 7pm is also very appropriate. Pip Smith, who was our first ever speaker, is returning, this time he will talk about Drought Resilient Gardening. Pip is a Worcestershire based landscape designer and former Head Gardener at Wollerton Old Hall. His “Drought Resilient Garden” philosophy focuses on adapting planting styles and garden layouts to cope with prolonged dry weather and changing climatic conditions. Pip is also happy to answer questions on a broad range of topics so this should be an interesting evening well worth attending.
Our Coffee Morning this month is on Saturday 25th July, we have changed the date to avoid a clash with other events. This will be our last coffee morning until October as we break for the summer and have the Village Fete which we focus on in September. If you haven’t been to a village coffee morning previously do come along. Offers of help with serving and donations of home bakes all appreciated. Thank you to all those who have supported us at the recent coffee mornings, we greatly appreciate it.
With the Fete in September and our gardening club stall in mind – we would also welcome any donations of plants, ceramic pots or other gardening related items which you can spare plus offers of help on the day.
