So hear we are, heading towards autumn and in particular our Family Harvest Service on Sunday 15th October at 11a.m. with Gary our youth worker, coming along to lead the service for us. If you able to donate any dry goods or tinned food it is a good idea to either leave it in the church porch or bring it round to me by the Friday so that we can place it in the chancel for the service. The church will be suitably decorated by our flower team to reflect the special time of year that harvest is. All your food donations will go to the Besom Food Bank which helps people locally.
Before we get to the harvest festival we are having a ‘Cobweb Saturday’ – throughout the summer months the spiders have been having a field day in the windows and crevices! So we are calling all volunteers and their feather dusters to give an hour or so to help get the church spick and span for the winter season. Arrive in the church at 10.a.m. on 7th October if you are free.
We heard last week that our curate Katie is having her baby boy Jesse baptised at St Mary’s Church in Bampton on 28th October at 2 p.m.
She has invited us all to attend and share the happy moment with her and Miles.

The next day (29th October) here at St Mary’s, it will be our turn to host the benefice communion service which has turned out to be very popular among the three churches of the benefice. It is lovely to see people from other parishes coming here to worship and enjoying the very special atmosphere in our church. Rev Barry (pictured left being licensed) and Rev Drew will be with us so please do join us if you can remembering that we have an earlier start than usual at 10.30 a.m.
Last but definitely not least we have our Christmas Bazaar and Coffee morning to look forward to on Saturday 18th November. I am sure there are lots of talented people out there so if you are good at crafts of any kind and have an item you would be prepared to donate for the craft stall I would be very grateful. We will also need items for the tombola, cakes, any kind of preserves, books in good condition etc. and of course raffle prizes. Contact either Wendy Taylor, Doreen Hart or me if you have anything to spare. Last year this event raised a lot of money for the fabric fund and with the start of our loo and kitchen project coming closer it is important that we keep our funds looking as healthy as possible.
