To celebrate Palm Sunday this week (2nd April) our Youth Minister Gary will be with us at 11.a.m to lead an informal service for all the family. Everyone is welcome so come and join in – Gary is always a big hit in Black Bourton.
We are almost in Holy Week (2nd-8th April) and I am pleased to say that Jeremy will lead compline at 6 p.m. in the church from Monday through to Maundy Thursday. This is a short contemplative moment for prayer at the end of the day and lasts about 30 minutes. On Good Friday Jeremy will read the passion from Matthew accompanied by music so if you missed it last year please put this in your diary. For me, it is the most wonderful and moving experience in the whole of Holy Week and I urge you to come and listen. It starts at 2.30 p.m. and lasts about an hour.
For Easter Day (9th April) at 11:00 a.m. we will be enjoying Holy Communion with our dear Ron Lloyd who will be helping Jeremy with the service. This is a very special day for Christians around the world as we celebrate the resurrection of Christ so do come and join us and bring your family too.
Now the weather is warmer we will be resuming bible study back in the church at 4.45 p.m. on Wednesdays. Katie will be with us until mid May when she takes maternity leave for 6 months. There will be no study during Holy Week.
We are pleased to welcome the Benefice prayer group to St Mary’s on Wednesday 19th April at 1.30 – 2.30 p.m. in the church. Our clergy team strongly believe in the power of prayer and have monthly gatherings in each of the churches for people across the benefice to join.
Lastly, at the end of the month the Parochial Church Council (PCC) will be holding our annual meeting. All are welcome. If you would like to hear what we have been doing over the last year with updates on the loo and kitchen project then come along to the church at 7 p.m. on Tuesday 25th April. Any ideas or thoughts you have are very welcome.
