The summer months are generally fairly quiet in church with families enjoying summer holidays and away perhaps with grandchildren or friends, and this year is no exception. On Saturday 16th we had a wonderful wedding with Emily and Gerard exchanging vows in front of an absolutely packed church. It was standing room only! We look forward to Sarah and Callum’s marriage on 5th August and Ross and Deb’s on the 13th.
Lawrence, Richard and I have been busy meeting with architects and electricians as we move onwards with the church improvements. Nothing happens in a hurry where the Church of England is concerned and everything has to be done ‘to the letter’ so the planning and designing stage hopefully averts any costly mistakes to our ancient building further down the line when the work starts. We are also able to make use of this quiet time to carry on with the repairs to the walls from the removal of the radiators and pipes.
Bible study has been continuing on an ad hoc basis on Wednesdays but with Jeremy and I on holiday for the next couple of weeks it has been decided to postpone our meetings during August. Watch out for an email with details of the date and time next month.
Once we get into September and the holidays are over then the busy cycle of the church calendar starts again along with all the autumn village events, so more about all of that in the next newsletter.
