Church News July/August

A reminder to all that there is no service this coming Sunday at St Mary’s as Drew and Ian are making their last appearance in the benefice at St John’s for communion at 10.30a.m. Hopefully you will be able to join me and other members of our community along with St Britius’ worshippers to say goodbye to Drew, Ian, Billie and Carol and enjoy a light lunch afterwards in the church hall. Please let me know if you would like a lift to be organised for you.

On August 11th, at our communion service, St Mary’s is honoured to be hosting the licencing of Rev Barry by the Bishop of Dorchester The Rt Revd Gavin Collins. We will be welcoming the whole benefice so that all three churches can join us in the formal service for our new associate priest who will look after us whilst we search for a new rector later in the year. I expect some of you will remember when we had a similar service for Rev Tess who was installed as our Vicar by Bishop Colin in 2019 – what a lot has changed since then! This time we are able to offer refreshments after the service so if anyone can spare some time to help pour tea and coffee on the day or bake a cake or two it will be much appreciated. Please get in touch if you are free to help.
