Church News

Having enjoyed delicious pancakes on Shrove Tuesday we are now at the beginning of Lent, and entering a time of contemplation and preparation for Easter in 40 days time. Our Youth Minister Gary will be holding a special Palm Sunday family service at 11 a.m. on 2nd April which will lead us into Holy Week. More news of talks and services in next month’s newsletter.

We are also joining the benefice prayer group which will meet in St Mary’s three times during the year. Our first date is 19th April from 1.30 to 2.30 p.m. in the church and Lyndsay Baker will be here to lead us. This is open to anyone in the three parishes and we look forward to becoming part of this initiative.

I hope you have been able to enjoy a stroll through the churchyard whilst the snowdrops and aconites are flowering – there are a lot of comments from visitors to the cemetery how beautiful this place is. It would help enormously if you could take your litter home with you, including doggie bags which are sometimes left on the pathway. We have a fantastic maintenance team but it would make their job less onerous if they didn’t have to clear up other people’s mess.

Look out for news of Easter services in the next newsletter at the end of March.
