Church News

We started off the year with our first service on 9th January led by Mark Thomas. To my huge embarrassment I had forgotten that we were going to change the time to 11.a.m. and that Drew was going to deliver the sermon. So as everyone was leaving, Drew and his wife Billie were arriving only to be told that the show was over! Humble pie was the dish of the day for me!  However last Sunday we finally welcomed Drew to our church to begin his ministry with us, so with a good congregation and Simon playing the organ we enjoyed a really lovely evensong. We look forward to many more of these in the future.

Now that we are joining with St John’s and St Britius in one benefice we will be able to join them at any of their services whenever we feel like it. There are also many groups and activities that are available which will be advertised in this newsletter every month as well as their days and times of services. A group of villagers attended the Burns Night Supper in St John’s church hall last weekend and I hear it was a great success and a really enjoyable evening. Do look out for more events like that.

A reminder for anyone who might be interested – Jeremy will be holding a short bible study and compline during Lent starting on Ash Wednesday 2nd March. This will be in the church at 5 p.m and will last about 45 minutes. We  have had these sessions in the past and they have proven to be very popular and  interesting so do come along if you can. Compline, or prayer at the end of the day, is a good way to reflect on the events that may have affected us during the day and to seek spiritual peace into the night.

As always if you have any questions do get in touch but remember we are now having services on the 2nd and 4th Sundays in the month with Communion at 11 a.m. and evensong at the usual 6 p.m.

Best wishes

Lene
