BBVA News October/November

Having improved the BBVA bank account in September following the successful village fete, we looked forward to our “apple juicing / village drinks / car boot” weekend on Sunday 2nd October.  The car boot was not a success, but the juicing and drinks were, however next year we will resort to a mid-summer village drinks party. Our apple chopper and juicer worked well and produced over 100 litres of juice some of which is being consumed as apple juice and about 70 litres is being turned into cider of different strengths from “stand up” to “fall over”.  Hopefully some will be retained for village drinks in June 2023.

Your committee is preparing next year’s calendar. We are always very keen to hear your views about the type of events we should be running, but we receive few suggestions.   To this end you have received a questionnaire via the monthly newsletter to ask for your ideas. We really hope that you will make the effort to respond as you did with the recent village website survey.

We are looking forward to the November Quiz and Supper Night at the Vines on the 18th November.  65 of the 80 places are already booked, so please don’t delay to make your booking at bbvacommittee@gmail.com – £12.00 / person inc supper, ideally 6 person/team. Supper is served from 7.00pm.

A major development, is gradually taking place between the BBVA and the PCC.  Following a recent meeting the two have agreed on a joint effort to encourage the further use and maintenance of the church as a community hub for the village.  The new heating system is almost complete and the toilet and kitchen project is proceeding.   Watch this space!

World cup football have very stupidly arranged their Cup Final on Sunday 18th December, the exact date planned for our Carols and Grotto.  We have asked them to change their arrangements without success. Therefore, we are changing our date to Friday 16th December, with Santa’s Grotto starting at 5.00pm and Carols at 6.00pm.   But the usual mulled wine and mince pies will be available, which is more than can be said for the World Cup Final!   Please see next month’s newsletter for instructions concerning the presents that you should bring for Santa to give to your offspring.
