Very pleased to report that feed back tells us that the Queens Platinum Jubilee picnic was a big success. The Witney Town Band were superb, the selection of meats from Strainge’s butcher in Bampton were so good and the selection of wines, cider and beers seemed popular. The children’s behaviour was better than most of their parents and we were lucky with the weather! All round a great day, which the Queen thoroughly deserved and after such a difficult two years an excellent opportunity for villagers to meet again with out distancing and masks. Do take a look at the photos.
The BBVA is planning a permanent Jubilee Memorial Arbor on the play park, which we hope will be a self-help project to be built by volunteers.
Unfortunately the Annual Village Drinks party was cancelled due to ‘unforeseen circumstances’, but we hope to re-schedule the event on the same day as the Apple Pressing event on Sunday 2nd October. Watch this space.
Two reminders, the first Sunday 4th of September as usual will be our Annual Fete Day, please make sure to invite family and friends to the event and if you feel able to offer to help on fete day with one of the stalls or with the erection and dismantling of marquees, then please let a committee member know. The BBVA is keen to recruit new committee members and helpers and to receive new ideas for “events” from villagers.
