Parish Council News September/October

The Parish council are currently looking for grants and donations to replace the climbing dome within the playpark which is outdated and showing a higher risk on the ROSPA report than the council would like.

We are also looking to replace a handful of trees as they didn’t make it through the summer not through drought but hungry deer, as the Council worked very hard to keep them topped up over the summer months.

We have also had to remove two trees on the Village Green, but we are looking to replace one later in the year.

Do click on the WODC flood updates for this year, which provide information of contacts for all types of flooding, and a notice about Polling Station changes, which does affect the residents of Black Bourton. The proposal is to close our polling station in St Mary’s and for us to use the one in the Carter Institute in Clanfield. So please read and make your views known before the deadline of 4th November.

We have also received a Thames Valley Police Update for the year.

As we are heading to the latter park of the year, the Council would like to remind the residents that we will be holding the Remembrance Sunday parade on the 10th November meeting at the church for 10:45am, the road will be closed to traffic between 10:50 – 11:10am.

The Order of service will be posted on the website closer to the time.

Parish Council News June/July

URGENT VENUE UPDATE the council meeting on the 3rd July has now been changed to Alvescot Village hall, due to circumstances out of our control.

It looks like summer is finally here, the little hamlet on the playpark has now been repaired all ready for a summer of fun. If you have any ideas on what you would like to see the council improve please contact the parish clerk on bbpc.cc@blackbourton.org. The village trees are looking good but a few are being to suffer form the heat, so if you live near, have some spare time and you have a watering can could you please help the trees, the council have filled the bowser and been around but every little helps.

The Council would also like to thank Nick and Nicki Holmes for the wonderful job they have done on painting the war memorial chains which are looking fantastic. It is due to help from all residents that make a community.

The council have now been successful with the reducing of the speed limit on the Burford and Bampton Rd to 20mph and the Alvescot Rd/Station Lane has been reduced to 30mph. New signs have been put up around the village by OCC and the cameras are in the process of having the speed reduced.

We look forward to seeing you on the 3rd July, at Alvescot Village Hall.

Please see the minutes and agenda for the meeting below.

PC News – August/September

RGENT Change of Meeting announcement.

Please accept our apologies for not posting this sooner, the meeting has now changed to the 13th September at 7.00pm in St Mary’s Church.

As always please come along to have your say or just to take on interest in what is next for your Parish.

Traditionally August is a quiet month for the Parish Council, especially as there is no monthly meeting during August.

However, the Parish Council continues to work in the background ensuring that some of the more mundane tasks are taken care of and ongoing projects continue to move forward.

The bridge over the brook at the end of Mill Lane was in a state of dis-repair and becoming a little dangerous for continued use. The wooden bed has now been replaced and the bridge is now safe for use.

Please note that the Parish Council has been obliged by GDPR guidelines to change Councillors and Clerks email addresses to those listed below.
